On June 15th the town of Braintree will undertake a special election for the purpose of a proposition 2 1/2 override. The amount of the override is set to $8,000,000 and will serve as a critical influx of revenue for the town to support Braintree Schools, First Responders, Public Works and the Town Government. In determining the size of this override the Mayor and her office carefully weighed projections for FY26 and FY27 to make sure our budget, in conjunction with this override puts Braintree on a sustainable path.

The ask for an override has become a common one in the state of Massachusetts, with costs soaring in recent years many towns are heading to the ballot just like Braintree. However, Braintree is unique in the sense that it has never passed a tax override. Let's make history this June and show our teachers, first responders, and public works department that Braintree supports its own.
